cClock has been updated, and again it fixes more bugs !

- Modify behavior : If "Power saving mode" is "No", if the keypad is unlock just before screensaver activate, it will remain unlocked. However, when you press any key, you still will see the "Unlock" dialog box.
- Bug fix : At preview, the offset from the top is follow last screensaver position. It should reset to 0.
- Modify behavior : Further reduce power consumption on option "Always on top" by reduce the refresh rate.
- Bug fix : Simplify Chinese font size label incorrect.
- Feature : If system alarm is being active, it will show as an icon.

My favorite pdf reader : Pdf+ will be updated to v1.75 and will be available in three new editions : Pdf+ Basic, Pdf+ Standard and Pdf+ Professional :

- Pdf+ Basic offers basic functionality. Users can view all pages, go to any page, search for strings, set the zoom level, full screen and landscape mode and reflow the text. Chinese and Japanese PDF files are fully supported. Email attachments and PDF files downloaded from the Web can be read as well.

- Pdf+ Standard offers in addition bookmark support, following of links, opening of websites, sending Emails and dialling phone numbers. Full support for password-protected PDF files is available in this version too.

Audiobooks

An audiobook is a recording of the contents of a book read aloud. There are tens of thousands of audiobooks available in the world, in various languages, ranging all the way from education to entertainment. Nokia Audiobooks is a beta concept that enables you to enjoy audiobooks while on the go. It includes a highly efficient audio compression technology optimized for voice (AMR-WB), a player application for S60 (Nokia Audiobook Player), and an audio converter tool for PC (Nokia Audiobook Manager). Whereas traditional music player applications are optimized for music, Nokia Audiobook Player is optimized for audiobooks, enabling you to browse chapters, set bookmarks, and automatically continue from where you last time stopped listening.



A typical 400 page novel translates into a 10-20 hours long audiobook, which would traditionally take more than dozen CDs or hundreds of megabytes of low-quality MP3 files. Nokia Audiobooks uses a codec called AMR-WB, which is optimized for voice. With Nokia Audiobooks, you will get 5-10 times more content to your phone with similar voice quality, compared to content compressed with MP3 at 64 or 128 kbps. MMPlayer v1.00 : Ported to Symbian S60 3rd ed.

MMPlayer is a media player capable of playing many standard audio and video files and advanced video playback and supports MPEG-1,2,4, DivX, XviD and MJPeg video codecs. It supports fullscreen on both landscape and portrait devices.

Rotates and zooms the video to make full use of available screen area.

Like i said, it supports MJPEG, making it possible to shoot a clip with many digital cameras with memory card, insert the card into your device and watch it. so it seems that it plays in the same area as CorePlayer...

Sadly, it doesn't supports the inner screen on the E90 for the moment...

[UPDATE] Mobile GMaps v1.38.04

A new version of Mobile GMaps is out, with a number of improvements:

- The QJAE GPS API (Sprint) was updated to prefer assisted-GPS over standalone GPS. This sacrifices accuracy for quicker fixes and more stable GPS positioning.
- The "Browse" option in Settings/Map Browsing was updated, it now searches for a folder containing a cache.conf file and it no longer requires for the folder to be named MGMapsCache.
- Support for the OpenStreetMap OSMARender map layer was added. You can enable it in Settings/Map Types.
- Added option to rotate map by 180 degrees, key "7" can be used to sequentially rotate the map.
- A scaled image is now displayed while zooming in (previously such an image was displayed only when zooming out).
- Added option to "fake" user-agent (Settings/Advanced) in order to make MGMaps work with some carriers and plans like O2 Germany's WAP.
- Some fixes for the GPS, zoom, key shortcuts and other settings.

[UPDATE] Mail For Exchange v2.1

Mail For Exchange has been updated to includes more features and fixes !

- First of all, N81, N81 8GB and N95 8GB are supported now.

- Heartbeat interval setting is now configured automatically : The heartbeat interval setting used for maintaining a connection to the server in Always
on mode is no longer a static value. The software will attempt to find the best value for the data connection being used. This feature is completely automatic and requires no interaction from the user.

- The Company Directory application (supporting the Global Address List lookup feature) is now available as a standalone application via its own .SIS file.
Anyone who wants to use only the GAL functionality of Mail for Exchange may now
install just the Company Directory application. After installation the application can be found in the Installation folder (or its equivalent). The settings required for connecting to the server can be found by selecting Options>Edit profile within the Company Directory
application.

- Error corrections have been made in the following areas: Network connectivity, Company Directory, Meeting Request handling and Displaying special characters.

- Last sync: The “Last sync” line in the MfE application shows “View log” (which
indicates a connection error) even though there was no connection error and
synchronizing was successful.

- N95 8GB: Making phone calls from Company Directory is not possible in N95 8GB
software version 10.x. Phone software to rectify this will be available towards of the end of this year.

Phone Shortcuts

Phone Shortcuts by Tektronic is a software tool which allows you to start the applications faster using shortcuts, hotkeys and the start at boot (autoboot) feature. The main screen of the application shows you a grid of shortcuts you can define. For each shortcut you can associate an application and edit its settings in order to start it faster.

The application defined for a shortcut can simply (and faster) be started by pressing the associated key (hotkey). You have just to keep the hotkey pressed for its timeout (long press) and the application will be started no matter what the phone shows.

Due to the background service the hotkeys will be active anytime even if Phone Shortcuts is not running. If you do not wish to use hotkeys you can still start the applications faster by (long) pressing the key 'C' (clear). This will automatically start the Phone Shortcuts tool allowing you to select a shortcut from its main menu grid. In the main menu grid, just simply press the associated key of the shortcut and the application will be started also.


Key features:

- the shortcut hotkey for an application can be enabled/disabled.
- the hotkey timeout (long key press) can be changed from 1 to 10 seconds.
- hotkey can ignore the keylock. If you long press the hotkey, the application will be started even the keypad is locked. This option can be disabled too.
- start at boot option available (autostart). If this setting is enabled, then the application will be started when the phone is powered on (boot time). A number of max. 5 applications are allowed to autostart at the boot time (power on).
- the master hotkey 'C' (clear) allows to directly start the Phone Shortcuts tool and select the shortcut. This can be disabled also.
- the master hotkey ''C'' can also ignore the keypad lock if enabled.
- the Phone Shortcuts tool can also be set to start at the boot time (autoboot).
- the hotkeys do not affect the normal usage of the phone. You can use the keys and write text as usually.
- allows 12 shortcuts in the main menu grid. The shortcuts are mapped with the phone''s numeric keys 1-9,0,# and * (hotkeys).

You can also start applications faster as follows:

- use the Phone Shortcuts tool and define shortcuts. Assign the Phone Shortcuts tool to the left soft key in the main screen (Tools->Settings->Phone->General->Standby mode->Left selection key-> assign Phone Shortcuts). Every time you need to start an application faster, simply press the left soft key to start the Phone Shortcuts tool and then, from the main menu grid, press the associated key for application.
- assign the Phone Shortcuts tool to one entry in the active panel of the main phone screen. Just select the Phone Shortcuts icon from panel to start it then select the desired application.

Activity Monitor : Coming soon !

The Nokia Activity Monitor displays charts and statistics, in real-time, about your movements while walking or running. It counts the number of steps, and determines the distance covered and the energy expenditure. Summaries are stored in a diary so that you can compare your activity level on different days, and over longer periods of time. Your steps are detected by analysing the output from the accelerometer in an S60 smart phone. Currently, the Activity Monitor runs on the N95 only. The Activity Monitor is most accurate when you attach the phone to your belt, or upper arm. It also works well if carry your phone in a pocket of your clothing. It might underestimate the number of steps if you keep the phone in a bag that you hold in your hand (as opposed to over your shoulder), and the most difficult case is when you hold the phone in your hand.

The Nokia Activity Monitor application is not yet available for download but when it is released, i'll let you know it ;)
